The first element displays information about the current query status.

The New button resets the panel and prepares a new query.
Note: Selecting New resets the Result Panel also.

The Save button triggers the Save Dialog Box.
Note: The Save button becomes available after successful execution of a query.

Running queries

To activate a stored query, simply click on the query. The command text will be displayed in the Command Panel. The corresponding database is activated in the IBM i Environment. It is not possible to run a query from the Query List. You first have to activate the stored query. After displaying the command text in the Command Panel, the query can be executed.
To execute the command displayed in the Command Panel, simply press shortcut key F5 or click the green RUN button.
Shortcut key F6, respectively clicking the NEW button cleans up the Command Panel and prepares for a new query.

Saving queries

Click on the Save button to make the Save Dialog appear
Save Query Dialog

Query ListYou MUST assign the query a unique name. Description and category are optional, but recommended.
When you specify a description, it will be effective on printouts or as tooltip information when you hover the Query List Panel.
For managing larger amounts of stored queries, we suggest assigning categories for easier navigation through the Query List. A choice of already assigned categories is available to pick from.
By selecting Submit, the query is stored and the Query List is updated.

Where are my queries stored?

Your queries are stored in a XML-formatted file named iQuery.NET.queries in Your personal folder of Windows.

For Your convenience and the purpose of making everything a little more readable we provided a [Format SQL] button. But remember that SQL can be very complex, so let us know, when it's doing something wrong.
